We all know Oregon’s families and
businesses are getting squeezed by rising health care premiums and
out-of-pocket medical expenses. And we all know we need common sense
solutions to make quality health care affordable for all Oregonians.
What many Oregonians are just now discovering, however, is that we have a shot of putting some of these solutions in place here in Oregon, if we take action this summer.
The Oregon Health Fund Board, a group established by the Legislature and appointed by Gov. Kulongoski, is developing a comprehensive health reform plan for the state.
This summer, after a series of public forums in May and June, the Board will release its draft plan. Public hearings on the plan are expected in September, and the final plan will become a bill in the 2009 Legislative session.
Through every step of this debate, OSPIRG has been there, and will continue to be there, standing up for the public interest. To make this promising plan a reality, we need your help. Please join me this summer by expressing your support for health care solutions for Oregon. Visit our Web site at www.ospirg.org to find out how you can get involved.
Sincerely,
Laura Etherton
