Laura Etherton is OSPIRG's Health Policy Advocate. She was actively involved in the development and passage of Oregon's 2009 landmark health reform law which expands coverage, tackles rising costs and promotes quality care. As part of implementing reform, Laura serves on several Oregon advisory committees, and co-chaired the Oregon Health Authority’s Administrative Simplification workgroup. She recently co-authored the report Delivering on the Promise: A State Guide to the Next Steps for Health Care Reform. Previously, Laura led the OSPIRG consumer program’s successful efforts at the state level to stop predatory lending practices, strengthen identity theft protections for consumers, and reduce prescription drug costs. She is a 1993 graduate of Macalester College.
