Matt Orchant is OSPIRG’s Fellow. He is responsible for building up the grassroots support needed to win on the campaign to stop subsidizing obesity. He is also working on campaigns to hold health insurance companies accountable for their rate increases, and for implementing a strong insurance exchange in Oregon in 2014. Matt joined OSPIRG’s staff in 2011 after graduating from Bard Collegewith a degree in Political Studies with a concentration in International Affairs. During his college career, he ran a small tutoring business. He wrote his senior thesis on the intellectual history of President George W. Bush’s foreign policy.

Every year, our tax dollars pay for enough corn syrup and other junk food additives to buy 2.8 million Twinkies. It's time to stop subsidizing obesity.
